February saw the final race in the Chiltern Cross Country League held at a somewhat boggy but certainly hilly Campbell Park in Milton Keynes so I feel it fitting that February’s member of the month competed in all five of the cross county fixtures of the 19/20 season in just his first XC season for the club and as someone who openly admits that he ‘only likes road’ that’s quite impressive. What’s more impressive is that he narrowly missed a top 10 by finishing 13th overall in his age category (MV40) in the individual standings, that’s a phenomenal result considering the sheer number of talented runners who compete in that league.
Here are the results that got him there –
Match 1 Oxford Shotover Hill – 83rd (35:36)
Match 2 MK Tear Drop Lakes – 108th (38:47)
Match 3 Luton Stopsley Park – 87th (37:45)
Match 4 Bedford Keysoe – 97th (44:08)
Match 5 MK Campbell Park – 85th (33:11)
Also in February and only 6 days before the aforementioned final XC race he competed in the local and hilly Watford Half Marathon, an ever popular GVH event. He crossed the line breaking his previous HM PB in a cracking 1:25:46 on the chip coming in 80th overall and securing first Harrier home on the day.
Going from strength to strength I see many more great results and new PBs ahead, congratulations February’s Member of the Month for the Boys – Michael Linden
