Marathon training can be tough, Ok it’s always tough. And Marathon training can make you or break you and for our boys Member of the Month for March I think the former applies.
Gareth’s recent performances have confirmed this, not only has he performed amazingly in races but his training paces have shown a new level of fitness achieved when running the pre marathon high mileage. That said I’m sure some of this extra speed can be attributed to his meticulous attention to his rep session paces, often achieving near identical rep times during a Tuesday session. Consistency is key!
The Berkhamsted Half Marathon is a big date in the GVH calendar always with a great turn out from the club. There were some great performances that day but none stood out more than Gareth’s. He blasted over the line in 25th overall in an incredible PB busting 1:27:08 shaving about half a Parkrun off his previous best and coming in as the third male Harrier earning him the bronze position in the overall winning men’s team ?
The Hillingdon 20 brought another team prize for Gareth, leading in the third mens team on the day despite having succumbed to fatigued legs after ten miles on his second consecutive weekend of racing.
Unfortunately due to the postponement of the London Marathon he won’t be able to test his new speed to the full 26.2 distance although I’m sure when he does it’ll result in a super quick time – but I bet he won’t want to talk about it ?
Well done buddy.
I’m super proud to present you with GVH’s most recent Boys Member of the Month – Gareth Tucker.
