‘Tis the season to be jolly, but Teresa Reason wasn’t using that as an excuse not to run, as she was the star for Gade Valley Harriers this weekend by being the only club member to take part in a race.
After having to pull out of last year’s Portsmouth Coastal Marathon due to illness, she travelled to the south coast for this year’s event to take on a multi-terrain course with difficult underfoot conditions due to recent wet weather. After starting in Southsea on a mild and sunny Sunday morning, the route followed the coast-line along flooded footpaths and muddy trails around the angelic-looking Langstone Harbour and over the bridge on to Hayling Island. Participants then turned around to follow the route back to Southsea for a beach finish.
Reason was the seventh lady to cross the line of the 26.2-mile race, and fourth in her age category, in a time of 3:31:52.
