For the ladies, I am completely thrilled to offer the award to Sam Raffety. Sam has absolutely been on fire lately with some cracking training and racing achievements. Sam took part in the cross country at Milton Keynes in brutal conditions and of the 24 ladies that took part, Sam finished in 7th position with a superb time of 28:33. The previous month she had been a point scorer for the first time at Oxford. A week later on the 17th, Sam ran her 50th parkrun with a crew of club mates at Ricky and earned herself a cracking PB of 23:24. Determined to get another PB in the bag before the end of the month, Sam took on the Herts Half Marathon at Knebworth the following Sunday. Paced by Andy Cook, Sam did exactly that. Despite feeling a bit ropey at mile 10, Sam pushed on with all she had and crossed the line in a spectacular 1:50:29. Sam always works hard in every training session and literally goes the extra mile. There is a fantastic camaraderie between Sam and Kim Morgan and it’s clear to see how much they encourage each other which is brilliant to see. Sam never gives up nor takes the easy options and often trains well out of her comfort zone to make the gains she needs to achieve her goals. ( Sam has since gone on to achieve another PB in December at the Milton Keynes half with 1:47:02!). Congratulations and massive well done Sam on being a complete superstar in November. ?? ?
